Tanzania Invites Stakeholders to Mining and Investment Forum

Tanzania invites the world to its Tanzania Mining & Investment Forum scheduled for October 25 – 26, 2023.
Through the meeting, Tanzania says it shall make ‘groundbreaking announcements, host bilateral and investor meetings, showcase project development opportunities, and work with our national and global partners to unlock the full potential of Tanzania’s mining sector’.

Doto Mashaka Biteko, the country’s Minister for Minerals, says the East African country that is rich in critical mineral deposits like lithium, cobalt, nickel, and rare earth elements, ‘is now placed in the high-ranking African groups in attracting foreign direct investment’.
Tanzania, a member of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (TEITI) which promotes transparency and accountability in the management of natural resources, says it has established a framework to promote responsible and sustainable mining practices which includes the implementation of environmental and social safeguards as well as the establishment of a regulatory framework to ensure compliance with international best practices.

Saying investors who are looking for opportunities in the green energy and transition minerals sector should take notice of Tanzania, the Minister says the country is rich in critical mineral deposits which are essential components in the manufacturing of electric vehicles, renewable energy infrastructure, and other clean technologies.
Already, the Minister says, three Australian companies (Evolution Energy Minerals, EcoGraf Ltd, and Peak Rare Earths) have already signed agreements worth US$667 Million with Tanzania, the home of Tanzanite, to mine rare earth minerals and graphite.
